BRP-Rotax is proud to again be part of a leading innovation in aviation: the British Royal Air Force (RAF) recently announced the world’s first flight using 100% synthetic fuel which has been achieved on November 02^nd, 2021 in Great Britain with a Rotax-powered Comco Ikarus C42 microlight aircraft.

Perfect weather conditions in Austria welcomed the first guests of the 2021’s Rotax Fly-In which took place from Aug 20^th to 22^nd 2021 at the Airfield in Wels. The perfect weather lasted the whole weekend and allowed for a comfortable get-together in the outside area of the airfield.

BRP-Rotax announced that it will stop the production of the legendary 2-stroke Rotax 582 UL aircraft engine by end of 2021. This decision has been taken considering the nearly full transition of the light and ultralight aircraft market towards 4-stroke aircraft engines.

BRP-Rotax’ latest aircraft engine development, the Rotax 915 iS aircraft engine was awarded with the German aviation magazine aerokurier’s Innovation Award “powertrain of the future” during the AERO Friedrichshafen, the largest trade show for general aviation in Europe.

BRP-Rotax informed about the latest development steps on the Rotax 915 iS, a 4-stroke, 4-cylinder turbocharged aircraft engine with intercooler and redundant fuel injection system during the press conference at the AERO Friedrichshafen, the largest trade show for general aviation in Europe.

According to tradition, there will be Rotax Familiarization Training sessions at the AERO 2017 in Friedrichshafen.

Last year, BRP and its Rotax brand celebrated 40 years of Rotax aircraft engines and launched a contest that ended on December 31, 2015 to find the oldest certified Rotax aircraft engine in operation.

The Rotax brand is successful on the market for 95 years, which since June 15, 2016 is also reflected in the company name! BRP-Powertrain GmbH & Co KG became BRP-Rotax GmbH & Co KG.

With 606 companies from around the world and 30,800 visitors the AERO Friedrichshafen 2016 took place from April 20-23, 2016. It was the first time that BRP-Rotax presented the Rotax 915 iS aircraft engine in Europe.

BRP donated a Rotax 912 iS Sport engine to Madiba Bay School of Flight, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa, the flight school that achieved the first time between overhauls (TBO) of 2,000 hours on their Sling 2
equipped with a Rotax 912 iS engine.

Who would have thought that in less than 8 years, an engine revolution will take place at Rotax. For decades, hardly anything happened on the engine sector, but then it went straightaway. The result, the Rotax 915 iS.

The eagerly anticipated Sling TSi test article recently made its public debut in South Africa and will be unveiled
at the upcoming EAA Airventure at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA in July 2018.
